Eddie Hearn thrilled with Jaron “Boots” vs. Ennis pre-sale – Boxing News – 24

Promoter Eddie Hearn is encouraged that 4,000 tickets have sold out in pre-sale for IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis' defense against Cody Crowley on July 13 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

As Hearn notes, general ticket sales will begin mid-fight today, and it looks promising that it will be a sold-out event for Boots' fight against the undefeated Crowley (22-0, 9 KOs).

The most interesting thing about this is that Boots is not even fighting a famous fighter, but tickets are selling well.

Hearn's vision for Ennis

Hearn recently signed undefeated Boots Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs) to his Matchroom Boxing stable, and he plans to have him unify the 147-pound weight class to become undisputed champion before moving up to 154 pounds to pursue Terence Crawford, if he's still around.

Ideally, it won't take Boots Ennis long to win the three titles he needs at 147 pounds to become the undisputed champion. However, if it turns out that Ennis is not being given the opportunity to fight other champions, he will have to give up and move up to 154 pounds, because there will be no point in staying at 147 pounds for years and waiting for a chance to fight for other belts. .

Stay busy, stay relevant

Ennis hasn't fought since last July when he beat Roman Villa. It's a shame that he lost a year of his career by not fighting, but Hearn plans to keep Ennis busy as much as possible to turn him into a star.

It's important that Ennis not only stays busy, but also fights the right opponent who will turn him into a star. When Hearn promoted Demetrius Andrade he matched him with a couple of British guys and a Polish fighter and his popularity didn't increase even though he looked good winning fights.

Hearn needs to realize the importance of comparing Boots Ennis to US fighters instead of constantly comparing him to UK fighters like he did to Andrade.
