Win, Lose or Draw Vs. Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. could get Teofimo Lopez – Latest Boxing News

Some interesting news from underground. George Kambosos Jr., who we know will face Vasiliy Lomachenko in Perth, Australia in a matter of hours, could get the next big fight – whether he beats Loma or not. Kambosos' promoter Lou DiBella told Fox Sports Australia that Kambosos, if he “still looks like a world-class fighter” against Lomachenko, could rematch Teofimo Lopez later this year.

As fans know, Kambosos upset Lopez two and a half years ago in a close fight, and Kambosos captured the world lightweight titles. Ever since then, Theo has been hungry for a chance at revenge. Now Lopez, the WBO 140-pound champion, will face Steve Claggett in June. Assuming Theo wins – and most people assume he will – next could be the return of Kambosos, the only man to beat Lopez.

As DiBella explained.

“If George does well, there's always the (Teofimo) Lopez fight because he kicked Teofimo's ass,” the promoter said. “So this fight will always be there as long as George still looks like a world class fighter. And I have no reason to believe he won't because George is a world class fighter and I know he'll put in a great performance on Sunday. The question is, will this be enough to beat Lomachenko?”

“Win, lose or tie,” DiBella said. Kambosos, if he puts in a good performance in a competitive fight, could get a rematch with Lopez in his next fight. So, will this news provide enough extra incentive and motivation for Kambosos to take down Loma (Loma is the best choice to win in almost all quarters)? This could very well work.

And the return of Kambosos and Lopez will certainly be an interesting fight. Lopez looked great winning his second world title at the same weight as he dominated Josh Taylor, and it would be interesting to see if Kambosos can defeat this version of “Takeover.”

Kambosos, who has vowed to defeat Loma and send him into retirement, will be in a great position to defeat the former pound-for-pound king and future Hall of Famer. While Kambosos could still be in a pretty good position even if he loses to Lomachenko, he looks good enough to convince DiBella that his guy is still a world-class operator.

As for Loma, if he wins the fight in Perth, he could face Shakur Stevenson next, as Bob Arum has already mentioned.

Now to recap: who do you like in today's Lomachenko vs. fight? Is Kambosos fighting?
