With Roman Zobnin's miracle goal, Spartak thwarted Krasnodar's championship ambitions

“Spartak” and “Krasnodar” met in the Russian Football Championship. The match of the 28th round of the RPL took place on May 11 at the Otkritie Arena stadium.

Game protocol

The main test of Krasnodar's championship ambitions was the trip to Moscow. A lot was lost and missed, but the victory over the “red-whites” kept the “bulls” in the race and gained strength, and defeat eliminated them completely. “Spartak” doesn’t need anything special in the standings so as not to lose face. Sliskovich released an experimental midfield: Umyarov, Prutsev, Medina, Ignatov and Manfred Ugalde at the forefront of the attack.

While the Spartak team were looking at each other and the new combination, Krasnodar ruined the super-moment. Eduard Spertsyan passed the ball behind Khlusevich and onto Kadi's move. Borges ran around Daniil, then went around Maksimenko and shot into the empty corner, but missed him. The ball only shook the goal net from the outside. At the same time, the game was on a collision course, but Krasnodar still had more specifics.

It’s just that over time the situation has changed. Now Ignatov flew to a rendezvous in the style of Cadi, but he hesitated and did not even manage to shoot, finding himself face to face with Safonov. But he struck, just like Roman Zobnin did in the 35th minute. The Spartak captain himself began the attack, passing from the center to Khlusevich. Daniila rolled from the left into the semicircle of the penalty area, from where Zobnin shot in touch. The ball hit the post near the top nine, after which it ended up in the net – 1:0. These are not accepted.

And then the same scenario continued – Krasnodar attacks more often, and chances arise in the chaotic offensive of Spartak. So Umyarov’s serve lulled the visiting defense, who thought that the ball had gone out of bounds. And in the end it went to Medina and Jesus shot Safonov, but failed to beat him. Olasa did not allow the finishing touch to happen.

“Krasnodar” did not betray itself, the second half also began with a super moment for Kadi. Chernikov's cross from the right was deflected deep into the penalty area by Maksimenko. Spertsyan rolled to Borges, who took the shot from about ten meters, but hit the crossbar. For Cadi, the Spartak gates seemed to be enchanted. And after this resounding moment, chaos completely prevailed. “Krasnodar” attacked more, and “Spartak” calmly defended; it was much easier to destroy in such an environment.

Musaev used Volkov, Castagno and Batchi as a triple substitution. Sliskovic also refreshed the attack by letting Zinkovsky, Martins and Bongonda play, but none of them showed any significant creativity. The match ended with a minimal victory for Spartak, achieved in maximum confusion. “Krasnodar” lost again and, it seems, said goodbye to even dreams of gold.
