Tiger Woods is retiring from Nike after more than 27 years

Tiger Woods and Nike indicated Monday that they have parted ways after more than 27 years.

Woods thanked Nike co-founder Phil Knight in a social media post for his “passion and vision” that brought together the Nike and Nike Golf partnership with Woods.

“More than 27 years ago, I had the privilege of starting a partnership with one of the world's most iconic brands,” Woods wrote. “The days that followed were filled with so many amazing moments and memories, I could go on forever if I started naming them.”

“That was one hell of a round, Tiger,” Nike said in a photo posted on social media.

“Tiger, you challenge your competition, stereotypes, conventions, old school thinking,” Nike captioned the post. “You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we are grateful.”

Woods has won 15 major championships, each won on Sunday wearing his trademark red shirt with the Nike Swoosh on the front. His 82 PGA Tournament wins are tied with Sam Snead for all-time.

“People will ask if there's another chapter,” Woods wrote in his post. “Yes, there will definitely be another chapter. See you in LA!”
