Alexey Popov: “I don’t understand what merit we have for Karpin, the coach of the Russian national team”

Ex-Rubin player Alexey Popov made a comment after the Kazan team’s home victory over Rostov in the match of the twenty-eighth round of the Russian Premier League (3:1). Popov questioned the coaching level of Valery Karpin, who works not only with Rostov, but also with the Russian national team.

“I don’t understand what merit we have for this coach, the head coach of the Russian national team. Because the way they play is some kind of nonsense. The way out of defense is constant mistakes. Their goalkeeper doesn’t know that you can’t give a medium or short pass vertically,” Popov quotes Metaratings.

Rostov is now in second position in the Russian Championship standings. Until the end of the season, Valery Karpin's team remains to play two matches – against Baltika at home (May 19) and against Zenit away (May 25).
