Video. Table tennis: Alexis Lebrun wins his first international title in Zagreb and heads towards the Paris Olympics

In this World Table Tennis (WTT) tournament where the Chinese were not registered, the eldest of the Lebrun brothers, 30th in the world, completed a very high level course since he dismissed Japanese prodigy Matsushima in the quarter-finals (3- 2) after saving two match points, before overcoming the Korean An (also 3-2), one of the men in form on the circuit.

The Olympics in sight

By winning his first international title a week after reaching the final of the WTT Contender in Taiyuan, China, where he was beaten 4-1 by the Chinese Liang Jingkun, world number 3, Alexis Lebrun will make a jump in the WTT ranking which should secure his place for the Paris Olympics.

A month earlier, Alexis Lebrun was in fact still neck and neck with Simon Gauzy for second French place in singles behind Félix Lebrun, world number 5.

The world ranking at the end of May, before the tournaments in Taiyuan and Zagreb where Alexis collected the points necessary to overtake Simon Gauzy.
