LIV Golf Tour – Thomas Pieters finishes 24th in Houston, Mexican Carlos Ortiz wins – La Libre


After his first two rounds completed under par (-2 and -4), Pieters (32 years old) was in 13th place in the rankings on the course of the Golf Club of Houston, in Texas. Starting on hole 4 on Sunday, he started with a birdie but conceded three bogeys between holes 6 and 9. Finally, the Antwerp resident finished with three birdies against five bogeys, 2 shots beyond par.

Carlos Ortiz showed consistency in the tournament (-6, -4, and -5) to steal the victory from the Pole Adrian Meronk (-14), who failed to be one stroke behind the winner. The American Patrick Reed and the Spaniard David Puig shared 3rd place with an additional stroke (-13).

In the collective ranking, victory went to Cleeks GC (-33) of Meronk, the German Martin Kaymer, the Englishman Richard Bland and the Finnish Kalle Samooja. Pieters' RangeGoats GC finished in 12th and penultimate place, at -10.
