Tennis. ATP Stuttgart: Highly qualified Herbert against Gasquet


After saving three match points during his first qualifying match on Saturday at the ATP tournament in Stuttgart, Pierre-Hugues Herbert experienced a new match with twists and turns this Sunday on German turf.

Opposed to his compatriot Richard Gasquet, 124e world at 37, the TC Strasbourg player, 142e at 33, won 6-3, 6-7 (7/2), 7-6 (7/5) in 2 hours 32 to open the doors to the final draw. The Alsatian was however trailing 3/0 then 4/2 in the final tie-break before inflicting a decisive 5/1 on the Biterrois.

At 1er round of the final draw, “P2H” will challenge the Australian James Duckworth, 105, on Tuesday or Wednesdaye at 32, an opponent he had dominated in 2022 on the turf of the Surbiton Challenger, in 2022.
