Janne Andersson is no longer the head coach of the Swedish national team, the official website of the local football federation reports. His last match in this post was the victory over Estonia (2:0) in the Euro 2024 qualifying.
However, it was precisely this cycle that the Swedish team failed. The “yellow-blues” scored only 10 points out of a possible 24 and lost their chance to qualify for Euro 2024 back in October.
Janne Andersson has led the Swedish national team since the summer of 2016. The first years of his career were successful – the team made it to the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup and the 1/8 finals of Euro 2020. However, the Swedes did not qualify for the 2022 World Cup (they lost to the Poles in the play-off final), and the Euro 2024 selection process was simply very weak.
