OFFICIALLY. Rennes fired their head coach

French Rennes fired Bruno Genesio from his post as head coach.

According to the club’s official website, the parties separated by mutual consent, but the coach also had personal reasons for leaving the club. “Rennes” did not remain without a mentor for long and immediately announced the name of Genesio’s successor, who became Julien Stefan.

Let us note that the French specialist took charge of Rennes in March 2021, leading the team to European competitions every year (including a meeting with Dynamo Kiev in the group stage of the Europa League), and in 2022 he was recognized as the best coach of Ligue 1. “ The club appreciates Genesio’s achievements at the head of our team, thanks for the work done and wishes all the best in his future career,” says a message on the official club website.

Note that after 12 rounds in Ligue 1, Rennes is in 13th place in the standings, gaining 12 points. The team is separated from the European Cup zone by four points.
