There has been grief in the family of ex-Hoffenheim and Liverpool footballer Roberto Firmino.
The star player’s father, 62-year-old Jose Roberto Cordeiro de Oliveira, suffered a heart attack during a family trip to Dubai, Brazilian news outlet UOL reported. Relatives are trying to contact the Brazilian Embassy in the UAE to return the body of the deceased to Maceio, the hometown of the Firmino family.
“He was a very good person,” a family friend is quoted as saying by a source. “He had a good soul and was a jokester.” He died very unexpectedly. Roberto considered his father a hero, as he wrote in his autobiography “Si Señor – My Liverpool Years”.
We add that Firmino moved from Liverpool to Saudi Arabian Al-Ahly this summer. At the moment, the Brazilian’s club is in third place in the Saudi Arabian championship standings with 26 points, nine points behind the leader, Al-Hilal.
