Earlier, information appeared that the president of the Cypriot club Geroskipou, Femis Sagirov, intends to invite a Ukrainian specialist to the post of head coach of the team.
According to the club owner, the new coach of the Cypriot team will be Gennady Zhilkinwho is now part of the coaching staff of Akzhayik from Kazakhstan.
Sport.ua contacted Zhilkin and asked to comment on this information.
“Anything can happen. I currently work at Akzhayik as a goalkeeper coach. My contract with the club is valid until November 25, after which I will make a decision,” Zhilkin said.
Let us note that Ukrainian businessman Femis Sagirov was previously the president of FC Peremoga, but after the Russian invasion of Ukraine the team ceased to exist.
Currently, Geroskipou ranks second in the Cyprus Third Division standings.
54-year-old Zhilkin worked as a goalkeeper coach at Obolon, Kryvbas, Metallurg (Donetsk) and the Russian Mordovia, in each of these clubs he was an assistant to Yuri Maksimov.
The current goalkeeper coach of Akzhayik was also part of the coaching staff of Kolos (Zachepilovka) and FC Peremoga (Dnepr).
