VIDEO. UEFA banned a minute of silence in the match, the players “wriggled out”

An interesting situation occurred in the Euro 2025 (U21) qualifying match between the youth teams of Poland and Israel (2:1).

Officials of the European Football Union (UEFA) prohibited a minute of silence before the starting whistle in memory of those killed in Israel’s war against Hamas (or simply no one approached them about this), and the referee, after the drawing of lots, immediately gave the signal for the start of the match. However, after the starting kick on the ball, the players of both teams stopped, and thus themselves “organized” a minute of silence – while the referee did not interfere with them.
