The head coach of Karpaty Lviv, Miron Markevich, shared his opinions on the eve of the First League match against Metalist Kharkiv.
“The team needed a victory over our direct competitor Niva with Buzova, it was a good match. Now we are working to ensure that the players do not relax and do not go into the Sunday match in such a mood as if we had already won in advance. This is the main task now. In the end, the guys themselves understand that they cannot relax.
In the last round, Metalist played a draw with Niva Ternopil. It was an equal game, although the Kharkov team even had an advantage. This is a young and ambitious team with many young players. Of course, it’s still a little difficult for them to play on par with adults, but they are progressing and it’s noticeable. We prepare as usual for the fight and understand its importance.
The disqualified Timofey Sukhar and Artur Ryabov will not help us – they will miss this round. Other players will play instead of them, but I don’t think this will affect Karpaty’s game plan. We have good players, we have quality replacements. I saw Bogdan Veklyak, Artur Shah and Kirill Matveev play for Karpaty-2, so I think that Shah is already on his way. The coaching staff will be looking for an opportunity to involve Arthur in the main team.
I think that in our group until the last round there will continue to be a stubborn struggle for the top five between several contenders. We have very difficult matches ahead, we will play against teams fighting for the top 5. In the parallel group, it seems to me that almost everything is clear. But in our group, the intrigue will live until the end,” said Markevich.
