Italian national team defender Matteo Darmian commented on the 5:2 victory over North Macedonia in the qualification for Euro 2024, and also shared his expectations from the decisive match against Ukraine (November 20):
“We had the right approach. It was important to open the account, and we succeeded. In the second half we could have managed some things better, but we still managed to take three points. Now we have two days to prepare for the match on Monday. As always, we will take the field to win.”
Let us remind you that in the match with North Macedonia Darmian scored his second goal for the Italian national team 2960 days after the first (October 10, 2015 in the match against Azerbaijan). This is the second-largest time gap between two consecutive goals for Italy. The record holder is Fabio Quagliarella – 3122 days.
