Hummels is the oldest German to score in the Champions League knockout stages


On Tuesday evening, the local PSG and Borussia Dortmund met in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final in Paris. Mats Hummels, an experienced Bumblebees defender, opened the scoring at the beginning of the second half – 1:0.

With his goal, Hummels became the oldest German to score in the Champions League knockout stages, Opta Sports reported. He scored his goal at the age of 35 years and 143 days.

Mats also became the third-youngest player to score in a Champions League semi-final. He was ahead of him by former Welsh midfielder Manchester United Ryan Giggs (37 years and 148 days) and Edin Dzeko (37 years 54 days), former Inter Milan forward.
