Gordeev explained why he is against the match between the Russian national team and the Media League team

Football expert Andrey Gordeev in an exclusive interview for an online publication “Euro-Futbol.Ru” spoke about whether he would be interested in a match between the Russian national team and the Media League team.

– How do you feel about the Russian national team playing with the Media League team due to the lack of international matches?

– I don't feel very good about this. We need to play with professional teams. With all due respect to media football, the players there are not professional ones. I don't know what the benefit would be from this. If only popularization.

– Would this match be more like a show?

– Yes. It's more like advertising. But from the point of view of professional benefit, I don’t think it’s necessary.

– How do you feel about media football in general? How seriously do you take it?

– It has a place to be. Anyway, this is football. They created such a league, and it’s great. The more fans we attract to the stadium, the better. But we must understand that there is professional and amateur football. The media league is good, it needs to be supported, but we need to understand what we want from it. How to convert this Media League. In terms of advertising or some kind of story – yes. And in terms of professionalism – what's the point? This is of little use.

– Would fans be attracted to such a match?

– Maybe they would be interested, but the players of the Russian national team would hardly be interested.

– For example, would it be more interesting for Karpin’s team to play against the RPL foreign team?

– Of course, if there was such an opportunity. Or playing with some club would be nice. At least it's useful.

– If you play with a club, then with one of the leaders of our championship?

– This is at the discretion of the coaches and based on the tasks. But with such an idea one could turn to some club.

– Not so long ago it became known that the Russian team will play with Belarus on June 7 in Minsk. Are you interested in such matches?

– Certainly. It is interesting to play with any professional team. This is right and necessary.

– Is the Belarusian team a weak team by European standards or not?

– Now they work so well, they have become so athletic and they are introducing this physical training into youth football that it is interesting. We have a lot to learn here too. They are catching up to the European level.
