UFC CEO Dana White refuses to bet on NFL games during 'the most fun fight anyone has ever seen'

While undefeated Russian standout Movsar Evloev picked up his 18th career victory, UFC CEO Dana White was betting on a football match.

Back in January, Evloev stepped into the Octagon for a featherweight bout with Arnold Allen on the main card of UFC 297. Despite Evloev scoring a decisive decision victory, his performance left much to be desired, leading White to call the fight “the least the funniest fight anyone has ever seen.”

Movsar Evloev vs. Arnold Allen

A truly remarkable statement from a man who once attended the Namajunas vs. Esparza 2 match.

While White's criticism isn't entirely unfounded, it turns out the UFC boss may not have actually seen much of the fight.

“Dana said that my last fight was not spectacular,” Evloev said on the Badaev podcast. “Perhaps he wanted to somehow motivate me or weaken my championship ambitions a little. We then spoke with Dan Lambert (owner of American Top Team) after the fight. He said: “Movsar, I was sitting next to Dana White during your fight, and he was watching American football.” Apparently he made a bet somewhere during my fight. I told Dana: “I’m not here to entertain you, I came here for my belt.” I’ll take the belt and we’ll see” (h/t MMA Mania).

Evolev's story is plausible considering White is a self-described “degenerate gambler” who once lost a whopping $3 million in one night.

Evloev has his sights set on a UFC featherweight title fight with Aljamain Sterling.

Having won eight times in a row under the UFC banner, Movsar Evloev is confidently ranked fifth in the promotion's featherweight division. There have been no announcements regarding the Russian's next opponent, but a potential title challenger in former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling appears to be on the horizon.

“The Master of Funk” made his featherweight debut with “the most dominant performance” of the night against Calvin Kattar at UFC 300.
