Fury vs. Usik's rematch is scheduled for October 12 or 13 in Saudi Arabia – Boxing News 24

Saudi promoter Turki Alalshih is planning a rematch between heavyweights Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk on October 12 or 13 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The two undefeated champions will battle it out on May 18 for the undisputed heavyweight title at the Kingdom Arena in Ryad.

Fears of rematch

Given Fury's injury problems, it would be a little presumptuous for Alalshikh to assume he could be back in the ring by October for a rematch with Usyk.

Fury is 35 years old and already has many miles on the odometer from the punishment he endured in his three fights with Deontay Wilder.

It wasn't easy highway miles for Fury. Getting Fury back in the ring for a rematch with Usyk by October is no easy task.

Fury-Usyk has a rematch clause in their May 18 fight, so the loser is expected to activate it to force a second fight. It could be bad for the boxing public if the May 18 fight ends up being a dud or a dud, and there's a chance it could be one of those two things.

The worst that could happen is that Usyk wins both fights with Fury, which would put the Saudis in a position where they have to decide whether Tyson should fight Anthony Joshua after back-to-back losses or choose Alexander as his opponent.

Fury vs Joshua: potential blockbuster

Excellency Turki Alalshih told ESPN that he is interested in booking a fight between Fury and former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in March next year. It remains to be seen whether this fight will depend on one or both fighters winning their previous bouts.

If Fury loses one or both of his fights against Usyk, fans won't be as interested in seeing him face Joshua in March 2025. However, given the interest of British fans in the Fury-Joshua fight, I don't think it matters whether Tyson or AJ lose.

Joshua doesn't have an opponent yet, but he could fight Filip Hrgovic for the IBF title once it is taken from the winner of the Fury vs. Usyk fight.
