BKFC KnuckleMania 4 Fight Night Weight: Mike Perry Gains Just 5 Pounds Before 60-Second Knockout

Only four fighters competing at BKFC KnuckleMania 4 exceeded the recommended weight limits on fight night at the promotion's first event in California.

On Monday, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) released fight night weights to MMA Fighting for the BKFC card, which featured Mike Perry knocking out Thiago Alves in 60 seconds in the main event. As part of a long-term plan to curb excessive weight cutting, CSAC, led by chief executive Andy Foster, documents the changes fighters go through from the moment they step on the scale to the actual competition the next day.

Fighters exceeding certain limits may be advised by the CSAC to consider changing weight classes.

Perry, who spent most of his UFC career competing at 170 pounds, faced no such struggle in his fight against Alves at middleweight. Perry weighed in at 184 pounds at the weigh-in and only gained five pounds on fight night, coming in at 189 pounds.

Alves actually scored more than Perry, but still didn't exceed the CSAC's recommended percentage. The UFC veteran weighed in at 183.9 pounds at the weigh-in and then entered the ring weighing 196 pounds, seven percent over his overall weight.

In the heavyweight co-main event, both fighters involved lost several pounds between the weigh-in and fight night. Reigning BKFC heavyweight king Mick Terrill weighed in at 249lbs before losing 3.8lbs and competing at 245.2lbs, while Lorenzo Hunt weighed in at 236.3lbs at the weigh-in and then 231.1lbs on the night battle.

Ben Rothwell actually had one of the biggest weight jumps of the entire tournament, but it was still only six percent of his total weight. He initially weighed in at 274.3 pounds before gaining 17.4 pounds to weigh in at 291.7 pounds on fight night.

The only fighter on the main card to go over the guideline was Sidney Smith, who suffered a first-round knockout loss to Crystal Pittman. Smith weighed 134.4 pounds at the weigh-in and then 150.6 pounds on fight night, a 12 percent increase in weight.
